Celabrating 20 years of retailing in fireplaces

In a few weeks time we will be celebrating our Twentieth year retailing fireplaces “what a mile stone”.

I will just repeat it 20 years amazing. Just shows you that there is fireplace  shops selling mainly on the web like ourselves that have been here a long time and intend to be here a lot longer providing a superb product and service to our customers.

A bit of our fireplace history

It just seems like yesterday that I first bought a cast iron fireplace from a fireplace supplier, to resell on.

In the beginning I was buying and selling old Antique fireplaces and putting them with my own hand made pine fireplace mantels which I was making in the shed at the bottom of the garden. Because of our success in the first few years retailing and restoring our antique fireplaces we needed more quantities of original fireplaces. the problem in Lincolnshire is that it is rural. (not enough terraced houses) eventually the old fireplaces started to dry up and became harder to find in any great quantities, to sustain a proper income. So I made the decision to stop selling the antique fireplaces and concentrate on new reproduction fireplaces. so I went looking for a supplier of reproduction Victorian fireplaces. (more…)

Going the extra mile…. Or 750!

Last Friday we had a bit of a problem with one of our deliveries. Our driver was on the phone to us at approx 8 am Friday morning, with the not so great news that one of the hearths for a customer was the wrong size. Our hearts sank in the office with the thought that, we (actually I) somehow managed to put the wrong hearth on the van for a customer.

The first problem was that this customer happened to be near Arbroath in Scotland some 375 miles away. The next problem was that the customer was having it fitted the next day. Damn!!

We rang the customer and after a lot of head scratching to say the least, I told him that we would nip the hearth up to him that same day in the car.

So off I set to Arbroath at 11am after a visit to another customer in Worksop. Seven hours later I arrived at the customers’ house – a very relieved customer who was pleased to not have to cancel his fireplace fitter. After a few words of thanks from the customer and my apologies I went on my way back to Lincoln – what a day, but great to know that the customer was happy with us going the extra mile or in this case an extra 750 miles.

This fireplace is available with any of our inserts weather you choose an arch insert or tiled insert a very stunning fireplace. Available fire options as always solid fuel, gas and electric.
